The Nature of Wood: Vermont Furniture and Woodware, 1790 to the Present.
This Exhibit combines the Sheldon Museum’s rich collection of locally-crafted furniture with private collections featuring a wide array of Vermont-produced wooden objects spanning the history of the state. The Sheldon presents a brief overview of the many ways Vermonters have made a living creating objects, both beautiful and practical, from the rich resources of the Northern Forest.
The Nature of Wood Exhibit is a State of Craft Showcase Event. The 2010 State of Craft Showcase was organized by the Vermont Crafts Council, in cooperation with the Bennington Museum, the Vermont Folklife Center, and the Vermont Department of Tourism & Marketing.

Hale Street Gang: Portraits in Writing A Photographic Exhibit with Sound
The Greater Randolph Senior Center and the Vermont Folklife Center have teamed up to develop an exhibit that shows the work—in photographs, written text, and recorded voices—of a dozen Randolph-area seniors who have been writing down their life stories for an ongoing pilot project directed by writer, teacher and Randolph native Sara Tucker.
The twelve members of the Hale Street Gang, mostly in their eighties (the eldest is 99) write about everything: learning to fish, skate, drive, and kiss. Falling in love. Getting old. They wonder, on paper, how they are supposed to conduct their lives at the age of ninety-something. They are scouting the territory for the next generation.
Acclaimed Randolph photographer Jack Rowell’s larger-than-life black-and-white portraits have beautifully captured the spirit and energy of this group. Their faces and voices, along with their written words, reflect the richness of their lives.
The exhibit is open from 10 to 5 daily and 11 – 4 on Sunday till December 18, 2010
Admission by donation.
